Words That Get the Best of Us

So I have recently left a high stress job. One in which yelling and being yelled at is common. In fact, the slew of profanities that I used to use on a daily basis was that of a sailor, and it was accepted because that was the environment in which I worked. I have now left that job and entered a new field of work. I deal a lot with people and have to act professional and courteous, which at times is hard enough not having the background that I have, but now that I do have said background it takes extra strength to hold back. That being said, it does surprise me as to how many people get offended by words. They are only words people! If I happen to "fucking" in a sentence, it is not the end of the world I promise. I don't understand how words can make people get the panties in such a tight bunch. How have you survived this long if you get butt hurt over words? It really does amaze me. So for those people that do get offended by words, I have one thing to say to you. Build a big fucking bridge, climb to the top of that mother fucker, and jump your sorry ass off of it so the rest of the world doesn't have to deal with your sorry shit for emotions self!

Rules are Rules

So recently I've been having this really fun experience with people that just don't seem to understand rules.  Let's say that there is this really big company that has been around for years and years.  In this company they pay people to make rules and regulations.  Not just make rules for shits and giggles, but so that everybody regardless of how long you have worked for the company or what position you hold all fall under the same rules and regulations.  Sounds like a pretty good plan to have in place right?  That's what I would think, but for some reason there are people that happen to work for said company that think that the rules can be bent for their benefit.  The shitty part about that is that they bend the rules so that they continue to look good even when the shit keeps hitting other people and they have to deal with the bent rules.

This being said, I decided I had had enough of this bull shit.  It sure is fun to go and rat out what would be your manager to upper management.  It's especially fun when the upper management looks at you because you have all of your ducks in line and tells you that you are right and have every right to go and give your manager an ultimatum.  So that is exactly what happened.  I gave them the ultimatum and they finally understood that I was not someone that they can just throw to the wind and hope everything ends up all right.  I am now in a great position to levy money, time and travel against my management.  This is such a great feeling.  Now we just wait for a little bit longer to make sure that they do what they said they would or all hell will break lose on them.  Because the nice upper management that I talked to, well let's just say they have my back.

In short, do your fucking job the way the rules say to do it and then there will be no problems.

Wait, What?!?

So there are times in ones life where you are just getting comfortable.  All of the speed bumps and minor detours seem to be going away and the journey of life seems to be going smooth.  Then all of the sudden something from your past comes around.  Now this can be good sometimes.  I mean there have been times that I bump into someone that I haven't seen in a while and it's like, holy shit...this is awesome.  How have you been?  What's been going on?  And that conversation goes on and on for hours and it just seems to be a good time and moment.  Then there are those times that something happens to cross your path that just sets things off.  When I say sets things off I'm not just talking about making a small ripple, I'm talking about a rouge waive hitting the side of a cruise liner and just sinking it down to Davy Jones Locker.  This is what happened.

So I have this friend that I talk to here and there.  By friend I am referring to a girl that I dated for a little bit a long time back, but our paths never seemed to be going the same direction at the same time.  We always have tried to stay in contact with each other and see each other here and there when the opportunity presents itself.  So this relationship is not a bad one.  Now we sometimes wonder and talk back and forth how our paths never seemed to connect at the right times and reminisce of times past.  Well in this particular occasion, she decides to tell me something that would have been pertinent to know back when we were dating.  But to give you a quick history of our relationship, here we go.  I remember getting a phone call from her while dating and she told me that she had a "big change" happening in her life.  I was happy about this "big change" and at the same time very scared.  Now if you are a guy and get told that a "big change" is happening in your life, I think you know what I am referring to.  Especially when it is coming from the girlfriend/wife.  So back to the story, as time goes on she informs me that this important change is not longer happening.  Sad day.  Then she tells me that she is moving because she can't deal with the stress and needs to get away.  My job at the time didn't allow for much relocation so I was just like "Ok, if you really need to go. I don't want you to."  But that didn't stop her from leaving and so ended our time together.

Now back to the present time.  Talking to her again in one of our weekly check ins, she tells me she has a confession.  I say "Ok, what is it?"  She then informs me that I am going to get mad and if I don't want to talk to her after this she would understand.  Now I'm really curious on what it is.  She then proceeds to tell me "I still had that "big life change when I moved away".  To my instant reply of "Wait, WHAT?"  As the story goes, she moved away because she thought that I didn't want this change and that it would interfere with my life...  Well no shit!!!  But what if I wanted that change in my life?!  So after further talking to her I find out that the "big change" happened and that he was given out to another couple that wanted a "big change" in life but couldn't for some reason make that happen.  So now I am excited, bewildered, dumbfounded and mad all at the same time.  Needless to say, my brain is still asking the question, "Wait, WHAT?!?"

A Change In Life That I Sure Didn't Want

So in choosing a path in life, you make your choice and you run with.  Sometimes that choice is a good one and other times...well it isn't.  I took a path about a year ago that was an awesome path.  I had done everything to prepare myself for what was coming.  However the sad part of this little story is doing everything to prepare wasn't enough because my body (in particular my knees) said fuck this and I'm not doing it.  So after trying for so long to become an Army Diver, I had to sadly drop out of the class.  It was a very sad day and I am still wishing that there was another option.  However the options were continue and risk permanently injuring my knees, or take two weeks off and pray that they perfectly heal themselves back to how they were when I was 16.  Seeing as the latter is not possible, I elected to drop course before I hurt myself beyond repair.  So now the Army has picked my path for the next 3 years of my life.  Field Artillery here I come as a Cannon Crewman.  Let's see how this pans out....

Is This Really The Right Road

How many times in life does this happen.  You are happy with your life, everything is going well.  Seems like everything is falling into place like it should and then WHAM, everything just feels off.  Is it the "grass is always greener on the other side" theory or is just being stuck in limbo between the life you are currently living and the life that you have ahead of you.  The life that starts in a few months or days.  It's like waiting for a promotion that you are not sure you want.  I mean the money will be good, the travel will be awesome, but is it really what is best for the life that you are currently living, for those that are traveling that road of life with you.  Sometimes it would be nice to just be able to let it all go and start over.  Let everything go and try again.  Sometimes it feels that the road that we have chosen for ourselves is not the best road for those that are traveling it with us.  What do you do in that situation, let them go?  Hope that they are happy on the road with you even though it wasn't what they had planned at all in their life?  These are the questions that are hard to talk about with those traveling with you.  You want them with you, but are scared that they are giving things up that they want for what, a road that you chose because the life you were living wasn't working out for you.  Live with the thoughts that they someday will regret traveling with you or just forget about it all and go with it.  I guess we'll just find out.

Take Advice or Shut Up

Have you ever had a good friend or a family member come to you with a problem?  Of course you have.  It happens on a daily basis.  Now, have you ever given that friend or family member advice?  You probably have.  Now, when that friend or family member basically tells you that your advice sucks, it really makes you want to not give them advice ever again.  So when you have a friend or a family member that is constantly telling you about their problems yet do nothing to try to fix them, makes you really want to just not say anything to them anymore.  In fact it really makes you want to just tell that person to shut the hell up and deal with it.  People who aren't willing to take advice or council should not talk about their problems.  It really is annoying to have someone just bitch and moan all the time but never do anything to help themselves.  So if you are one of those people or know someone that is, here is my two cents...Shut the Fuck up and face your own problems.  Then when it bites you in the ass, I'll laugh at you and say "Should have listened huh?!?!"

For All the Lonely and Sad Women

So this goes out to all of the women who are in your mid 20's and desperately in love with someone that you can't have.  Let me just say this, the reason that you are still not married and not in a relationship is because you are still hopelessly in love with someone that you can't have.  Whether this person is someone from high school, college, or please god don't say a movie star or musician you need to get over it and move on with your life.  So when you get together with the rest of your friends that are in the same position as you, sadly single wishing that you had a dream guy that doesn't even know you are alive please refrain from telling everybody around you that he is in love with you and that the song he wrote is for you.  It is just sad and pathetic.  Please grow up and stop acting like a junior high girl with a crush on the quarter back and get a life.  There is nothing that will turn a guy off faster than listening to a bunch of grown girls talk about how their dream guy just hasn't found them yet.
(if you haven't figured it out yet there was a bunch of these girls at a recent concert that I was at)
